That Was A Save?

An old rant I know, but why the fuck should Mariano Rivera get a save for coming in and facing one batter after the other relief pitcher spoils Moose's shutout? This brings me to my second point. Why the fuck did Moose get pulled after pitching eight shutout innings?

What has happened to this game?

i agree with you re: Moose. drives me bananas when pitchers get pulled while cruising(eg Santana less than 24 hours earlier...but fuck the Mets!)

as for Mo...are you on Goose Gossage's payroll? He only has 24 hours a day to rant and rave and cry his every thought on todays players now that he's a "Hall of Famer" - he needs to farm the work out now?

its a cheap save. but Mo has gotten more big outs in big games than anyone else. relax!

At the risk of feeling your wrath (or is it wreath, Xmastime), I'm kind of with Goose on that. Not taking anything away from Mo, but a save has become meaningless today. Goose, Sparky, Sutter, had much bigger job, as did the starter. But the game has changed.

its not even about agreeing with his point or not; its that the second he got voted in to the Hall he's had every paper on speed dial to chime in with his every thought; that he's some fucking authority that anyone cares about now. waiting for his words on global warming. grrrr.
