What's With?

It's an old question that has bugged me for sometime and it came up today at the softball game. Why do some youthful urbanites keep the size stickers on the bill of their baseball caps?

Who started this trend? How long will it go on? Why does it bother me? It's the last question that is most significant.

What gives with that?

Annoying yes. Perhaps they've simply overlooked it. My buddy, Andy is autistic. He's 56 and came into work wearing a crisp new Tee shirt. Bright red with some patriotic theme, and a clear strip of adhesive tape with the LLL going down the front from the left N-line. He just didn't see it. You'd expect that from Andy. I just peeled it off. If it bothers you, try mentioning it casually. "Size sticker" (pointing to it)

you know, some people like to return an item if it doesn't fit properly. It's our God-given right!! Show me a store that's going to accept the return of a cap sans sticker and I'll show you the relationship between the size of man's hat (let's say...11) and the size of his shoes.

Because, contrary to what we would like to think of human nature, pop trends sometimes are simply stupid.

Wy does it bother you? Because like any sane person, stupidity bothers you.

There it is.

There is also the pop cult phenomenon that has kids buying hats that are at least one size too big for their dunderheads. The result is that the wearer looks like he stuck a saucepot on his head. The cap fits almost any (butt) head.
